Damian from Fucked-Up reminds me (and a few others) that Earles and Jensen released an album in 2009
By placing it in his Top Ten of 2009.
He even wrote this nice blurb…
6) Earles and Jensen – Farr the Record [Matador]
“I don’t think I am giving away any insider information by telling you that the first Earles and Jensen record is one of the worst selling records for Matador in recent memory, but not because it is bad or anything; people just have no taste. The highest rated comedy on TV is Two and a Half Men, not 30 Rock, Curb Your Enthusiasm or It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia. So I suppose that means the majority of people think that Charlie Sheen is one of the funniest people alive. The same thing could be said about comedy records: the first Flight of the Concords record won a Grammy while the first Earles and Jensen record is totally forgotten.
This time around Matador made the new Earles and Jensen record super limited. They’ve realized that the masses are wrong, so why not just cater to the few and the proud with good taste in comedy?”
Earles’ note: This LP’s first (and last) pressing of 324 copies is probably (I don’t want to go look) still in print, breaking some sort of record.
